City Notice – KD Singh of The Book Shop, Jor Bagh, is No More
Death of an institution.

Kanwarjit Singh Dhingra, the founder-owner of The Book Shop in Jor Bagh, died of cancer on May 21 2014. He was 73. The Delhi Walla wrote about him here.
Mr Singh ran the bookstore with his wife Nini and doorman Sohan Singh. His three daughters would occasionally be seen helping him in the shop.
Mr Singh once told me about his fondness for the Himalayan town of Nainital. I wrote about that here.
Cherished by his regular customers, Mr Singh charmed them with his chattiness and gentle humor. He played a part in making Delhi a civilised place. I leave you with some photos of Mr Singh and his world.
