Exploring these gourmand destinations, in atmospheric lanes that reveal variations of Delhi we never knew existed, is an adventure in itself. But these days I’ve made a commitment to a pavement stall that’s just three years old, often with a queue of customers eagerly awaiting... buttermilk. Sour and homemade, it’s the creation of Suraj Bhan, whose footpath stand is strategically located near the central Delhi office towers on Barakhamba Lane. City Hangout – Magnificent Window Scenes, Pragati Maidan Metro Station Hangouts by The Delhi Walla - December 2, 20171 The magical sights. [Text and photos by Mayank Austen Soofi] That chandelier on the first level is rarely lit, making me feel I’ve somehow strayed into a palace in decline. The Delhi Walla is inside Pragati Maidan Metro station, where sometimes I head upstairs to catch a train to Noida. But today I'm here here for a unique visual delight — peering at the cityscape through huge openings that are like giant windows without panes. What I spy are the immense greens of New Delhi, with high rises such as the PWD headquarters jutting out — a reminder that our ancient national capital can be starkly modern with not a dome in sight. And then, there are those railway tracks running along this landscape. Here
