Hi Mayank, I would like to know which place is this exactly? http://www.thedelhiwalla.com/2011/07/20/city-hangout-delhi-forests-around-town/ and how can I reach there? Do tell me if you plan such things 🙂 Thank you Reply
Hi Mayank….. I just read a post you had written about kuldeep bookstores in daryaganj…. I know it was really long back but just wanted to know if you have updates about it cos I visited the address mentioned by you but there was no bookstore there. Thanks!! Really likeyour blog btw Reply
They have changed their address. It’s now close to Golcha theatre, very close to a ‘wine shop’. Will put up the exact address on the aforementioned post by next week.
Hi Mayank, this is in reference to your article on Amrita Shergil Marg. You’ve referred to Lodhi Garden’s former name as ‘Lady Hardinge Garden’, while it actually is supposed to be ‘Lady Willingdon Garden’. The comments for that page were turned off so I chose to write it here. Do change it if you can. Great write-ups and pictures – very intimate and unique, but at times perhaps slightly non-relevant. Having said that, your blog makes a delightful read. I am a Delhiwalla who lives in Pune and I always end up at your page when I feel nostalgic. Cheers. 🙂 Reply
Thank you, Anmol. Corrected the error. Thanks for your kind words about the website. And yes, I like non-relevant aspects of our cities and lives.
Your new site theme is way too busy. MesoPlus doesb’t seem designed for website with so many categories. Have you considered using Twenty Fourteen that works well with photo-based blogs like yours. Or if you want to get folks to concentrate on the content Writr (both are free)? Just out of curiosity who do you host with? You don’t need to share it publicly via this form. Email me privately :p Reply
i love the way you make the situations so live by your words….i like the way you look at world and click awesome picks Reply

I was a regular reader of yours in HT. then it disappeared suddenly .I was disappointed. I thought you have joined some other newspaper or magazine. Then , yesterday I discovered this website through some link. I am so happy and thrilled to get you back. Reply
I was trying to look for pics of amaltas for my blog and your post in 2012 on Amaltas was so generous with the photographs. I love Delhi (only if we could turn the sound off), and Amaltas is one of my best memories of Delhi. Reply
Thanks for sharing such lovely pics, and thanks for dedicating this space for Dehli. Love your idea of ‘one in one percent of 13 million’ thanks for putting a face to these people that no one stops to notice. May be you could do a post on how english writing gets so much more news coverage than those in vernaculars …….may be something is being lost in that….. Thanks again for this blog. Reply

Dear Mayank First of all thanks a ton for all your valuable eforts in bringing this the best website I ever came across in my life. I am short of words to express my congratulations and thankfullness for this fabulous website. It is indeed the best website. You have put sincere and valiants efforts in this website in describing this great city and this website (www.thedelhiwalla.com)is indeed the reflection of your passion, knowledge and above all the liking for this great wonderful city. Hats off for your description on the people, the food, monuments, hang out places, the chaos etc which makes them unique traits/speciality of Delhi, which would otherwise have been normal for a metropolitan city. Each and every article of yours is fabulous and outstanding. You are one of the few people who open the avenues for commoners like us becoming more responsible to our culture and towards the cities we live to make them much more better. We really feel lucky for having read your website and books and for being a part of this great Delhi. We will leave no stone unturned in conserving this city and making it a better place to live. Many thanks once again and our best wishes. With Kind Regards Sri Rama Kumar Swaminathan Iyer Reply

Thank God, Mayank, you are back in Mint. Without your stories, it looks trivial. I was toying with the idea of asking my newspaperwallah to stop giving me this newspaper. Your story today on ‘Rain Baseras’ is very good. Reply

Hi, I just love reading about Delhi time and again. Your posts are quite close to an”aam” delhiwalah. You know, pics of common delhi is seen. Since you have a dedicated site on Delhi and your viewer ship is quite remarkable. May I make a suggestion. Can you please encourage the delhites to keep the Delhi clean and tidy. Especially the old Delhi areas, where the rickshawwalas, peddlers, shopkeepers , they all are part of that historical culture, but it is very painful to see, when see them spitting on roads, aiming their chaat pattas on road while sitting on their “gallaas”. A word from you might bring some change in their attitude that teh road and street belongs to the govt and its its duty to keep it clean. How great the trips would be to tehse narrow mesmerised lanes on Delhi, if they will be clean!!! Reply
hi, I have been searching for a dargah in Delhi, over Google and luckily landed on your website. Although I could not find what I was looking for but I have found a lot more than what I was looking for. It’s like an accidental discovery and I would be really obliged to have this information about places recorded/shared over our portal as well, an initiative [www.next2metro.com] to provide free information to the users for places around metro stations in Delhi. If you are interested then you may please write back. Looking ahead for your response. Reply

Really it’s an awesome job mayank.i appreciate u for ur this job of relightening the great Indian Mughals. Reply
Very detailed site. I recently visited Delhi after am absence of over 50 years and had a great deal of fun tracking down places I remembered from my teen years. Of the monuments much has changed but often for the better and they are in better repair today than in the 1950ies. A couple of fairly obscure monuments you might want to add to your site are the Flagstaff Tower, not to be confused with the Mutiny memorial, located on the north end of the Ridge. It predates 1857 and was an important site during the 1857 siege of Delhi. Another that is still there is the entrance to the Delhi Powder Magazine which was blown up during the Mutiny. It is located on Lothian Road very near the General Post Office. Reply

Felt like you might know so asking: is there a list somewhere of personalities who are behind Delhi’s road names? I saw a post on your site that talks about some older names vs newer ones. If there isn’t any such thing maybe I’ll start one, so let me know of existing resources when you have the time. Reply
Have been a fan for years. Thanks for all the fish. The twitter logo on the main page is not directing to your handle. Might want to check. Reply
There is a problem in viewing your website which can be improved. When we scroll down in any of your posts, a header of about 4 inches always remains on screen giving options of Biographical dictionary, Library, Walks and others etc. On scrolling down, this header should not remain of more than 1 inch like any other website. This leaves very little viewing space on the monitor to see your actual post. Pl modify. Reply
