City Moment – The Conference of Birds, Basant Lok Market
The beautiful Delhi instant.
[Text and pictures by Mayank Austen Soofi]
The Delhi Walla was in Basant Lok Market, South Delhi. I was standing against a circular pool in front of Modern Bazaar departmental store. The pool had no water. Instead, hundreds of pigeons were sitting on its dry surface, busy feeding on grains.
It was early evening and though the area is a hangout zone for dating couples, movie-watching crowd (PVR Priya is just behind), booklovers (Fact & Fiction is nearby) and serious shoppers, I was the only person there. Suddenly, a salesman in a red shirt emerged from a Vodaphone outlet, on the other side of the pool. He kept walking straight and as he reached the pool’s boundary, he paused for a second and then hopped across it. The birds immediately sprang up on their wings and flew away, making a great fluttering sound. It was a beautiful moment.
The classic Delhi moments in Basant Lok
How one small action can trigger another, mass, reaction.
I never seen this place:( but I will soon:)
thank you for letting me experience this beautiful moment.
nice pics.delhi mein bahut jagah aisa hai like near delhi gate.Red fort ke piche…..
The pigeons seen here are flying up up and away to protest the CWG mess. They shall cast their droppings on all the officials enmeshed in the fine mess and make them messier. The pigeons are after them with a vengeance…Qabootaron ka badla!
beautiful indeed…. very precious..
strangely there has never been water in that pool or fountain (whatever they intended it to be) anytime i have been there….great pics though…
